League Deck Profile: SebbyWebby

Welcome back to another Adventure League deck profile, Mayors! In this series of articles, we take a look at the strategies of some of the Mayors who earned the maximum number of points in Adventure League Prologue: Goodbye, Namitori! In this article, we'll be looking at Top 5 finisher SebbyWebby's deck!

First up, let's take a look at the deck list:

Why did you pick this attribute?

SebbyWebby: I knew that Power and Authority were going to be the meta choices heading into the league, so I wanted to avoid those. Also, the arctic and water themes of Mysticism were 100% my vibe.

What is your deck's strategy?

SebbyWebby: Using Foretell and Peek effects to get to the cards I needed when I needed them, and then clearing the way to quests with bounce/freeze effects.

Look to the stars and find just the right card!

What are your deck's key cards?

SebbyWebby: Pripiri Water Dancer provided a ton of value not only from the card draw, but also forcing strength based parties to commit extra resources. Party Tricks let me reccur a ton of useful strategems like Winds of the Wastes and Stargazing to keep putting counters on Natasha. Anxious Frostweaver doesn't usually go off every turn but it's still a very useful source of freeze counters.

This otter is a versatile adventurer!

What are your deck's difficult match-ups? Are there any cards your deck has trouble dealing with?

SebbyWebby: Bounce and freeze effects work well against adventurers but not so much against workers. Authority's ability to go wide with several smaller workers was a lot more difficult to deal with compared to a smaller number of powerful adventurers played by Power. A lot of my deck's questing power comes from Pripiri Water Dancer, and sustained discard effects make it a lot easier to play around by removing the buff. Removing key workers like Anxious Frostweaver and Pola Provisioner with cards like Rough Up or Bad Bunch can cause my deck to really struggle by forcing it to rely on stratagems.

Thank you to SebbyWebby for the interesting analysis of your Adventure League strategy! Cheap stratagems, as well as ways to recur them, are an essential part of Natasha Pola's game plan. Ensuring that you're able to dig through your expansion deck to find them and accrue Energy is vital to getting the most value out of Glaciate, a powerful Freeze effect that cannot be foiled due to belonging to an Assistant Mayor.
